About
This electronic Non-Detriment Finding (e-NDF) platform serves as an online tool to facilitate the development of CITES Non-Detriment Findings (NDF) for species listed on CITES Appendix II. The software can also be used to inform management and conservation of non-CITES listed species.
An NDF template with integrated guidance support for shark and ray species listed under CITES Appendix II. Assists scientific and management authorities in evaluating whether trade is detrimental to wild populations.
Watch a demonstrationAn NDF template for Holothuroidea species listed on CITES Appendix II. Helps identify management gaps and population concerns driven by fishing and trade pressures.
Based on the sharks & rays e-NDF framework, adapted for sea cucumbers by the Pacific Community (SPC) in partnership with Blue Resources Trust.
Data Security
Online Version
Built with industry-standard data protection protocols. Once a CITES Party or Observer obtains an Administrator login, they can add users and NDF templates into their own portal.
Designated users only receive access as authorised by the respective admin, and can be restricted to particular NDFs or subsections, with either edit or view-only access.
Offline (Server) Version
For CITES Parties unable to use the secure online browser version due to national security concerns, it is possible to install the e-NDF software on any server of their choice — including national servers — to ensure absolute isolation.
Contact eNDF@blueresources.org to obtain instructions and a copy of the software for installation. We recommend that the respective national IT support team reach out, as installation requires technical server knowledge.
Partners & Funders
Developer of the e-NDF platform. Blue Resources Trust created the original sharks & rays e-NDF to support CITES Parties in their implementation of shark and ray listings, and provided technical support for the sea cucumber adaptation.
Development funded by the Federal Agency for Nature Conservation (BfN) of the Government of Germany and the Shark Conservation Fund. Translation into Spanish and Arabic was made possible by the International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW), through the Shark Conservation Fund, a sponsored project of Rockefeller Philanthropy Advisors.
The Pacific Community (SPC) gratefully acknowledges funding support provided under the Pacific European Union Marine Partnership (PEUMP) programme, funded by the European Union and the Government of Sweden, and the National Museum of Natural History (MNHN), France. Technical support was provided by Blue Resources Trust, whose underlying sharks & rays e-NDF was made possible through the support of the Federal Agency for Nature Conservation (BfN) and the Shark Conservation Fund.
